Saturday job advice for a 15yo.
Discussion
Well, first up, teeagers can find jobs but only the keenest ones. So it really needs to be your daughter that wants the job rather than you that wants her to get it (of course this might be the case). All they really need to do hack their way round every local shop being keen and enthusiatic, but not in a happy clappy scary way. They can offer to do a shift for nothing to learn the ropes and show their value.
But a kid trudging down the same street with a glum face muttering 'got any jobs mate' because their dad told them to will find there are no jobs to be had at all.

Do you know anyone who runs their own business, or hires/fires people? If so, perhaps they could hire her on a temp basis for a few quid (maybe partially funded by yourself)? If someone was to approach her and ask for help, I'm sure she'd be more willing to take them up on the offer than if she was told to go and get a job.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.
Aged 15 I'd already been cleaning cars for neighbours for a year or two, and had a paper round. Neither are jobs that a lass would want though, I suspect.
She's got to want to do it though, as mentioned. I started earning my own money because I wanted to go on a school trip my parents couldn't afford. Once I'd learned the value of having my own money in my pocket, I was keen to continue.

I worked at a plant nursery at 15, fetching, carrying plants for little old ladies, running things through the till. I think I was paid as a farm labourer...
For "low risk jobs" that would pay cash inhand (need to be 16 for NI number)
Washing up at a local pub
Local church?
Dog walking
Hairdresser / salon

until she gets her NI number you will struggle.... ours ended up working at the local kennels at weekends..
shops, hairdressers etc etc would only consider folks who were 16 with an NI number for tax ..
You can get an NI number at any age I think - my son had one at 5. Not because he was working, of course, but he is a diabetic and was entitled to Disability Living Allowance. The NI number appeared at the same time.shops, hairdressers etc etc would only consider folks who were 16 with an NI number for tax ..
As for a Saturday job - cleaning, perhaps?
The best thing both my daughters have done for their confidence was join the local youth group, via that they have the gone on to do their D of E and help support the local disability group, both have taken a group of disable young people to Snowdonia, in order to this they have been involved in all sort of fund raising activities. Whilst the volunteering element has no pay, they have had some really lovely rewards, theatre tickets, weekends canoeing, free disco entry etc.

Thanks for the replies.
She is interested in the charity shop idea. She is off into town to find out more because she is so interested in my idea.

Don't mean to sound too harsh, but if that's not happening, she isn't interested, she's saying the right things to keep you off her case.

My daughter (who doesn't live with me)
She is here now but normally lives some 400 miles away.....silver service waitress at functions ect - just look for a local employment agency that deals with this sort of thing - I did silver service waitering between the ages of 15 and 17! Great fun, boxing tournaments, company dinners, Christmas parties - just had to watch out for drunken office gilfs trying to grab yer crotch..and offering cash to go to the hotel over the road with then on one particular night! (that was a Greggs Christmas party!)
