I'm another fan of Continental tyres, and have been using them on cars and vans for over a decade. I have Conti Premium Contact 2 on my V8S and my daily driver, and they haven''t given me any surprises in any weather. They come out well in tyre tests, and although they might lack the ultimate dry weather grip of others, they more than make up for it in wet weather.
Another advantage is you can get the standard size (205/60-15) in a W speed rating, which is what I use. There are alternatives in V rating, but it is arguable that these are not adequate for the V8S.

Hi, well if it makes you feel any better...I bought my V8S in May, it had Goodyear Eagles on with a date stamp of 2002....and they are rock solid!!! Took the car on Rockingham circuit a couple of weeks ago and even after an hour of ...... drifting, the tyres were still only warm and still solid...they are leathal!!! needless to say, an early xmas pressie to myself are some new rubber...Rich
I also have a preference for Continental, they always do well in Which? tests.
However, my S1 came with Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response fitted, and I've been impressed with their all-round performance, especially on a very warm Spa track.
Good value too, you can often get special deals on these.

As this thread was started a couple of months ago I assume you got some tyres?
I'll throw my 2p in anyway and say Contis as well. I put Premium Contact 5 on mine as they had only just come out and I have been very impressed. They coped with the 'ring and Spa really well and we were really pushing round Spa. They did get a little too hot after half an hour of that though but they still gripped.
I try and only use the car on dry days but I have in the past had to drive in pretty awful conditions and my old Toyos (very old and very hard) were pretty scary. The new Contis are much nicer and I have far more confidence if the conditions aren't dry.

Despite my initial posting being a couple of months old I have still to change the tyres as my car has not yet completed its rebuild. Once it's back with me it sounds like Contis all the way, given the broad recommendation for them over other tyres.
As the car is not currently with me, could somebody confirm the tyre sizes ? Haynes says 225/50 x 15 ?

My S1 tyre sizes are the same as Tom's S2,
205/60 R15.
What wheels are you fitting to your V8S ? If you go for 50 profile on a 15" rim, you'll have a huge gap to the wheel arches, esp at the rear.
Also 225's could foul the inner arches on lock & may need spacers depending on offset.
Just my impression anyway, the later cars may be different?
I'm sure some V8S owners will be along soon with further advice.

Ok - I'm certain we all have the same size , I guess the Haynes manual is just wrong. I'll go with your dimension....205/60 R15.
