number plate surround help

Im changing over my number plates On my E 63 without sucess.

the holders front appear to sandwich the plate between the surround and appears to close in the centre. But I cannot get this surround or the plates out. The surround appear to have two small holes on each end of the plate holder. Ive tried poking/wiggling things in it to see if there is a catch but with no luck. There are no screws.

Any one tried this before?
