Hiya,

I'm relatively new to this area.

I currently own a Nikon D5000 but interested in upgrading. I hear the name kerso mentioned a lot, however he only appears to be a stockist of Canon equipment. Is there anyone you could recommend for Nikon kit, as there are a lot of dubious websites out there that make me wonder if they do exist. e.g. SLR Hut?

Cheers in advance

Contact Ian at Kerso and tell him what you are looking for.
I have bought several Nikon lenses and flash from him – never had any problems.

Thanks, but even his second hand kit is £100 more than new elsewhere (D7000). Certainly comprehensive though.

They give good advice though. (Is what you're after?) I buy from http://www.wexphotographic.com/Home/default.aspx

I actually bought my bodies on the high street. Terrible I know, but I wanted to look, touch, play with them and had guilt of then going on to WHE and ordering. Not that I dont order from WHE, or whatever they're called now, but if I've used a service I'll try and buy the product there, price being reasonable and stock allowing

I think you're right Andy, although sometimes I'm so impatient, as soon as I get the bug to upgrade it's usually ordered same day!
I'll contact kerso for some ideas.

Thanks

Have you decided what body to buy?

I'm deciding between the Canon 7D or the Nikon 7000. Both appear to have their pros and cons but both also seem fairy evenly matched. Don't think I could go far wrong getting either??

I tend to take more sports than general landscape/portraits etc at the moment.

My shooting mate has the D7000, we both bought D90's together, he upgraded when it came out.

Nice bit of kit and was what I was going suggest.

I am holding out for the D400

More importantly, are you clear in your own mind why you want to upgrade? I'm as prone as anyone to upgradeitis, but refrained from spending the cash until the existing equipment is getting in the way of taking the pics I want. Case in point - upgraded from a D70s to a D90, massive jump in image quality and higher ISO performance that was very welcome for general picture taking. I lusted after the full frame bodies and pro lenses for 3 years but couldn't think of a good reason to spend 000's on them. Until I was asked to shoot a season of music gigs which definitely needed even higher ISO and wider aperture lenses. Cue a D700, 28-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8. I still use the D90 with DX lenses for general walkabout stuff though
