Every where i go (online) I am seeing this bloody advert.
Now, i am currently in the market for a job, so have been visiting agency websites and doing google searches for vacancies and such.
Am i a victim of targeted marketing, or is that advert popping up for everyone else as well?
And i just noticed the ad at the top of this page is for a UK job search thingy too!
I don't like this feeling of being tracked!

Doing household wiring jobs is very logical, and very satisfying - when you finally switch the fuse back on, flick the switch, and whatever it is springs to life.
Wiring was the only building-maintenance job I was ever (reasonably) competent at - and then they had to spoil it for me by basically making it illegal for amateurs to do electrical work.
But that must mean that there's more work for the professionals to do. So get in there my son (as they say), get the training, and be a sparky.

And then you have to factor approx £1k a year for tools, insurance, scheme membership, advertising etc etc.
Even experienced electricians are struggling to find work, and the same goes for plumbing.
Despite what everyone says, the building industry is shyte at the moment, and it is one area i would avoid for employment, or even self employment.

Doesn't quite work like that. Otherwise there wouldn't be any complaints. The main thing is wiring is dated now, so they know when it was all installed roughly. Unless you kept lots of unmarked wiring from years ago (something my dad did), but even then you need to match it up with the date when a rewire / whatever project was done. E.g. you can have builders in for a extension with a 'anonymous' electrician fitting undated wires.
Trust me, at the mo the whole construction trade is struggling. I know many quality time served sparks sat at home looking for something, constantly ringing me to see when the next site will start and how long it runs for,
I only consider fully trained time served sparks. I don't bother with those that re trained later in life, as those that I have worked with before were not up to much.
