Who works alone?

Following on from the thread in which we are busy regretting the loss of masculinity that results from office work, how about those of us that work in an office type environment most of the day alone? I'm really missing other people now. Just been to the Olympics as a Gamesmaker and had a blast being with others for a change. All the talk of banter saddens me, you lot are my main contact with the outside world and nice as that is........

Miss the occassional conversation, but when I was working for someone else I often noticed people were being paid to drink tea almost constantly, gossip, complain about "how stressed they were" (yer right) and so on.
Concentrate on the work and the time tends to fly. There is no one to distract you, no stupid pointless meetings for the sake of having them, no clueless management ignoring advise and then changing plans last minute due to their own failures. Most of all I love the fact there are no office politics at all; brown nosers, lazy individuals, colleagues who talk the talk but cannot do the walk.
The list can keep going, but I like working without anyone - all of it benefits me at the end of the day and not some fat cat sitting merry in his office browsing t'internet being paid zillions.
Swings and roundabouts and the grass isn't always greener.

Have WFH since 2007 now and much, much, much prefer it. I hate having to go into my company's main office in London once a month for meetings, drives me mad.
WFH - no distractions, no commuting, no spending £3 each morning in Starbucks/Costa and £8 for lunch. I get so much more done on a daily basis it's unreal. I have a golden retriever and a cat for company. The dog needs walking twice a day so it's great to get out of the house and away from work for an hour each time and be able to totally switch off, even in the pouring rain.

I've worked from home since 2004, I'm working in an office at the moment and much prefer it
The cabin fever of WFH gets a bit much sometimes, I remember once I didnt leave the house for 6 days, drove me mental. There's something to be said for face to face interaction that no phone call or email can replace.

Prefer to work alone... Worked alone for 15 years and must admit that you have to enjoy your own company. Get loads done when alone...
Went to office environment with about six other people for a while, and OMG. The drivel that some people come out with? One guy I am sure was not equiped for every day life. Another was so far up himself it was unreal... And don't get me started on the girls in the office. If their pay was productivity related, they would have owned the company money. Did not like it at all... Thankfully wasn't their long, and gained the label as the company party pooper.
So, prefer to work alone, and then later play with others... Works for me. (When I get the chance)

I almost always work along, pretty much for the last 5 years. Some times I have sub contractors work for me and I enjoy that.
This year I haven't really done much project work and as such don't get to work with anyone and it has been noticeably hard.
Almost contemplating going to work for someone, which is something I have never done. I was even a self employed apprentice.
