Hello everybody, I'm new to the forum, I have a Boxter S, 2004, 987 - only 24k miles on the clock. Over the last 12/18 months 2nd gear has completely detiorated; it's become progressively worse to the point that I have to bypass it altogether. Essentially, can't drive the car as it's meant to be driven.
Anyone else experienced the same problem?
Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem on my 986 S (not sure if it's the same box?) I had to get the gearbox refurbished, if you do a search on "boxster 2nd gear syncro" or "Boxster 2nd gear pop out" you'll find loads of info, seems a common problem that i think affected the 996 too

Porsche replaced the box on my then new 2005 Boxster S because of problems with 2nd gear. The car had done 2 k at the time. All done on warranty.

Yes, a common synchro problem, a friend has the same on his 997C4. If you have an OPC warranty, the complete 'box will be replaced. If not, just get it refurbed.
