Boxster 2.9 - typical oil consumption?

How often do these engines typically need a top up of oil? Every 1000 miles?

You're going to get mixed responses to this as some engines use oil and some don't. The general trend however appears to be that they use some oil for the first 1000-1500 miles and hardly if any after that.

Mine needed a top up at around 3,200 miles.

Sorry - should have been a bit clearer. My car has 33000 on the clock already. Just interested in typical oil consumption on a 3 year old car. Mine was showing "Full" when I picked it up. 700 miles later and it's now two thirds full. Just wondered if that consumption rate was "normal"

Yes, that's considered fairly normal and I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets worse or there are other symptoms eg. excessive smoke when fully warm.
