Anybody else notice that Fontana lost his saddle and post on the last lap? Nothing was mentioned by the commentators.

I saw something fall going through a rocl section, but they didnt get a decent view of his bike after so wasn't sure.

Not sure what the section was called but it was most certainly his S&P.

That was the point he started dropping back and would explain the tears and shaking of his head as he approached the line.

Otherwise a cracking race. I was disappointed Stander couldn't do more with his chase. Too many attempts from him to pull a gap at the front rather than just sitting with the leaders.

Ithought the cometators were dismal on it. Talked such a lot of rubbish and completely missed the saddle fall off.

Yep. Shoddy commentating on a brilliant race.

Perhaps we should offer our services for Rio. scratchchin

I agree, you could easily see it fell off and he was forced to carry on with out it.

Cracking race, didn't notice he'd lost his saddle, anyone know when the course is open to the public?

I'll eat my words about the course. Course looked pretty good. Produced a good race too.

Seems xc'ers can actually ride off road than being ex roadies. Good stuff. Schurter and Fontana have good skills.

A lot different compared to racing 10 years ago when I stopped xc

Me too. But they said they're taking rocks out? Just make an alternate line ffs. Loads of mtb tracks with worse stuff open to public...

Thanks. I only saw the first half then had to go out, sounds like all the interesting stuff happened after that.

Bpardman talked up the difficulty of it nicely - certianly from a cardio point of view - but niether of them were mtbers FFS! banghead

Surely they could have found current or previous mtb XC racers who'd have been capable of bringing more life and in-depth knowledge into the commentary.
