Hi

Have had some problems when starting the car lately! Sometimes it starts just as it should..right away.. but sometimes the startermotor almost dont have enough power to make it go around. when this happends i usually try straight again and it fires up. But to day it did not do so!! I tried to start.. and the starter slowly did some turns and then nothing.. just a klick when i turned the ignition.. end then nothing. I have tried this: fully charged battery, tried with jump cables, lifted the car and "hammered" on the startermotor.. and rocking the car in 2 och 3 gear.. everything according to the S- bible. So what do you people think!

I have a late -92 V8S anyone know what the serialnr/partnr for the starter is?

Mind you don't burn yourself but feel all the big connectors both the heavy cable to the starter and the earths. If there is a bad connection it will be very hot. Engine earth to chassis was under alternator on mine, and earth from battery ran to under rear wheelarch chassis point drivers side.

thanks.. will look at that!

There is no klicking sound when i turn the ignition now! took a look at the dreaded yellow-Connector today.. and it looks fine! so i suppose it is the starter.. will look at the power and eartcable to the starter too.. have i missed anything u think?

the boring and trubbeling thing is now to get access to the startermotor.. think i have to dismount a part of the exaust manifould to get access to the starter!

Have you pulled the yellow connector apart and looked inside?

The easiest way to access the starter motor is from below. From above the driver side manifold and (I think) the chassis will get in the way. Disconnect the wiring then a socket with a couple of extension bars will reach the 2 bolts from the front (mine were allen head's). Removing the driver side wheel will help with access It should then lift clear after a little persuasion and slide out the underside. Nothing else should get in the way or need to be removed.
