Choosing the right career field

Looking for some advice.
I'm a trainee race technician/engineer. But I have found myself losing the passion I had when it was a hobby. And thinking I done the wrong thing of mixing a passion/hobby with a career.
I am 19 now so getting on a bit in terms of training getting funded. So its a bit hard on how to get to some where if I change my career.
I like to have a bit of spare time and to enjoy myself, obvioulsy in motorsport you don't get this. And you get paid a flat rate, whether you work more hours, you wont get paid for it etc...
Having always liked being around dogs, and protecting others, which is why I have thought about security. But again, the courses are no where near cheap. But also like practical things, like operating heavy machinery and driving.
One very hard decision on how to choose a career for life. And something I need advice with.

I don't have much to offer really, but I was curious as to how you became a trainee motorsport technician/engineer as I am very interested in a postion like that.
Regarding your career, I would say that you are still 19 so if you are not sure what you want to do yet don't worry about it so much as only time will tall you. Some people know it earlier in life and some people only find out later after they have tried many other things.
For now, I would say that it would be good to keep your mind open and try anything that presents itself to you.

You do it by going to National College of Motorsport on the apprenticeship scheme. But I've also been to college before hand to study Motorsport Engineering also. Was suppose to start my apprenticeship course etc in September, but I went out to find work to get into one quicker and moved half way up the country for it also.
Dog handler in security industry I would do as I am not allowed in the forces due to a previous fracture of the skull.
I enjoy the job and I really do, but you basically dedicate your life to the job. But there are always pro's and con's to a job tbh.
