Come on, own up. Who else deliberately goes through tunnels to hear their engines? So where are the best ones then? Preferably those you can go through at the national speed limit. In the interests of the Hatfield residents, it would be good to have some alternatives to their tunnel. Beginning to feel a bit conspicuous.....

Alternative is to go East of Brighton on A27 and turn off onto A26 towards Lewes. Just before the town there is another section of tunnel ... about 500m of it.

Lots of tunnels on Italian M'ways as a "youngster" I used to enjoy riding through on my (loud) bike and flicking on/off the kill switch just to make it backfire, yes childish I know but it was fun, even now (20+ yrs on) it's difficult to resist the odd "blip" of the throttle but sadly in UK there aren't many tunnels (and fuel injected bikes won't pop in the same way!)

The one that leads to the pit area at Goodwood takes some beating for in car fun The walls are only 2 feet away and its probably only 10ft high and 30 yards long but so......so.......noisy

Nice long tunnels into and out of Heathrow T1, T2 and T3. Not the standard numpty tunnel, the emergency tunnels on either side which you can use...

Long and close side walls!

Get off the M6 at Spag' jct, and head into Brum on the Aston Expressway. IF you keep on this there's two cracking tunnels under the city centre - they make one Griff' sound like about ten!

If you think to visit Italy sooner or later, take a motorway from Turin heading south to Genova and then continue heading to Livorno. Hundreds of tunnels, old, dangerous, not too large and perfect for sound rebounce. Lot of fun guaranteed. Take it on holidays when lorries are stopped.

Cracking tunnel. Taken the Chim through there a few times. Always raises a smile.

When I ride the bike through the Blackwall with the engine ticking over at about 3500 rpm the booming from the exhaust resonates so loudly it hurts my ears even with ear plugs in. Don't suppose the car drivers appreciate it. Tee hee!

Heading in to Le Havre there are two short, narrow tunnels that dive under the traffic lights if you stick to the left. If it's late, no-one around, you can take these at 60+ and your heart will drop into your stomach. Perfect for a final two fingers to political correctness before hopping on the boat to Portsmouth.

Thanks guys- this link is a cut out and keep.

I had heard about some tunnels in the Birmingham area. Apparently, the local Ferrari dealership uses this route when taking cars on test drives. Couple of tunnels and the deal's done!

Cheers

Rotherhithe tunnel near Docklands in London! Indicated limit is 40 there but I know bikers who go crazy through there. Sounds great. Also, Mayfair to Knightsbridge tunnel running under the roundabout sounds good too but only a 20 limit, so only good when coming back from a night in the West End, not a real "sound making exercise".

Underneath the elevated section of the M4 is a goody with the roof down.
