Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. During the recent wet weather my girlfriends nova has developed a fault. It starts fine, it ticks over fine when started, but when being driven as soon as the revs are decreased (eg every junction) it cuts out.
She had the aa out who suggested that it was the distributor cover letting in water. I have replaced this and dried out / wd40ed inside but the problem persists. Also bizarrely (and this started at the same time) her fuel gauge seems to sit around the half mark although the tank is full.
Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

welcome to PH.
I know on the old Mini's this used to happen a bit when water got into the dizzy's, thats why you see lots of them with either plastic bags, marigolds (latex gloves) or sheilds over the dizzies. Might be an idea to do the same here.
The fuel gauge - sounds like the sender has gone to me.

From what I understand (I read a lot and remember silly facts) it was a design flaw on the Mini in that the Dizzy is on the front and that the solution was to bolt a plate behind radiator covering the dizzy, I don't know about the Nova however.
to be honest from my limited knowledge I don't know much more (I'm learning as I go with mine), however the "bizare" incident suggests to me water in the circuitry shorting something out? Long shot I know but maybe the fuel sender/pump is playing up with the water? I'd be checking the fuses and relays...
What happens when you rev the engine and then allow it to decrease it's revs (i.e. when not pulling)?
