Steve, it is a nice looking car, and the @rse does look good (still would like to see photos).

Don't worry - as soon as we're happy that the 'flesh' looks like the 'fantasy' we'll be posting pic's left, right and centre!

Stay tuned...

Looks like LED ring tail-lights with 55mm centre indicators outboard and ring reflectors with 55mm centre brake lights inboard. Where are you going to put the fog and reverse? Please don't just throw them at the back of the car and fix them where they land (and I hate unsymetrical lights)

The kit prices are shown on page 3 of the specifications, but they're basically:

£10,995 inc VAT for all new parts - excludes wheels & tyres, donor bits (inc. engine).

Legally we don't need a reverse light, but if we fit one it'll be behind the mesh at the rear. The fog light was originally going to be positioned centrally, but SVA regulations prevent us from doing that. We may have to hide that behind the mesh too.

However, be assured that they won't be thrown at the back of the car - we are considering their location carefully with regard to styling and the law...

Talking of 55mm indicators, have you had any luck with 55mm front indicators for the Griffith, Clive?
I've been toying with using the spot lamps off the front of the MGZT-T fitted with some orange bulbs. I'm sure I could bond them into the holes with some clear bathroom sealant, I just need to stop by at my local MG dealer to measure the lamps Rich...

Coram Automotive accepts no responsibility for links to Kylie's ring - or any other part of her anatomy...

Ahem.

Looks nice but isn't it a cross between the Ultima Can AM and the mad thing UVA put together a number of years ago?

If you're head to head with Ultima (designed by Lee Nobel of Nobel M10, etc. fame), its going to have to be world class! To get a feel for how much something like this costs (you can't scrimp on a car of this spec for safety reasons if nothing else), look at Ultima's site www.ultimasports.co.uk/.

You have Ultima beat on kit price (£10K rather than £15K) but they have experience and history.

Good luck, its shaping up nicely to be quite a fight!

This doesn't compete with Ultima. It competes with the Radical SR3 and the new mid engined Westfield.

The kit price looks good, I imagine you could build one for under 20k - which incidentally is about half what an Ultima costs to build, and should be a fraction cheaper than the Westfield and a fair bit cheaper than the Radical.

Personally, I would like to see a closed cockpit version from someone, so it could be used on the road properly. I considered an SR3, but turned it down because I'd want to use on the road half the time, and I'd feel a knob stuck in traffic with my lid on!

We're not trying to compete with Ultima (or Radical for that matter), but it's understandable to draw comparisons between their products and ours. If we can achieve what they have, then we'll be very, very pleased. And by that, I'm not saying that we're aiming low, it's just that it takes an awful lot of hard graft to get to where they are and we have to start somewhere.

That's why our car doesn't have a roof. Not having one enables us to get into the market more quickly and establish ourselves. Roofs add complications (as well as weight!) such as wipers, doors, window winders, heaters, and so on. We do have a roofed car in the pipeline, but it's not going to be available for another couple of years yet. We need to concentrate on making this car as good as we can and put the infrastructure in place to allow us to build more complicated vehicles. Besides, a roofed car will be too heavy to be powered by a bike engine, it will need a V6 or V8.

As we stated, these engines are future developments for LMP so it will be a natural progression through to the roofed car because the LMP will allow us to develop the V6 & V8 installations.

Does this make sense?! I hope so!!
