Can you export an S to USA?

My S is up for sale, had what seems to be a genuine enquiry from Phoenix Arizona regarding export (apparently the price is really cheap in US terms). Anyone know if the buyer would have any problems with either US customs or emissions regs? Seems that shipping costs don't worry him.

There was some discussion on this topic recently in one of the other TVR sub forums....in fact it was the "TVR in USA" forum, who would have thought....

The upshot is: it's very complicated. You might get away with it by taking out the engine and then a new engine installed in the US allowing it through as a kit car, or something like that. But have a read of these threads, which have developed further since I last cast a curious eye over them.

Or just sell it and once you have the money (beware of scammers) let him sort it out

That's definitiely the plan, enquiry as much for my info as his (curiousity). He accepts that if he buys the money will need to be in my bank account before the car goes anywhere!
