I've got a 40th party coming up in August. Most of the group are staying in Reguliersbreestraat / Rembrandtplein area. Any recomendations for 5 star hotels near by, preferably within a 5 minute walk?

Cheers
Gordon

Dont go by the pictures on websites. We booked somewhere called the orange tulip (not for from redlight) and it was a shthole. Nothing like the photos, no refund given.

Stay as far away from that area!

Thanks for that. I worked just outside Amsterdam ( Sloterdijk ) for a year, and have stayed in enough dodgy hotels. That's why i am looking for a 5 star, or even a good 4 star hotel. The hotel De L'euorpe looks nice, but it's £500 for the two nights.

Anyone else with personal recomendations?

Thanks

What is the big hotel on Dam Square? Krasnapolsky?

Yes, it's the Krasnapolsky at Dam Square. I've stayed there before. It's a good hotel, though certainly not 5 star as advertised. I'm hoping to be a bit closer to Rembrandt Square, so looking for recomendations in that area.

Thanks for the repy.

Stayed at http://www.westcordhotels.nl/hotels/city-centre-ho... a couple of months ago. Perfectly fine for the price and pops up as a secret deal on lastminute.com from time to time.

The Okura is nice, a short tram ride out of the centre but excellent service and rooms. Also, it has Japanese toilets which are worth it alone.
We booked through Lastminute as a Top Secret hotel and it was not expensive.

The Amstel is by far the best in Amsterdam.

budget? the dylan is a proper 5 star hotel, but $$$$$ prices.

i stayed in an executive room here last time i visited:

http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/netherland...

really fab, i imagine the suites to be even more so. the view from the skylounge is just amazing:

the lloyd is also a cracking hotel, but a good walk from the centre

however, my suggestion would be to spend a bit of time browsing on airbnb. i find i am using them almost exclusively now. for example:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/139445
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/544625

as long as you're in the canal belt, anywhere is 20min walk max.
