I am interested in a role in Consumer Imaging at Canon based in Reigate, and I'm hoping the PH photography team can offer some advice.

Does anyone work for them now, or has been employed in the past?

TIA

Amusing, but believe it or not, I'm still on the hunt for information...

Ideally,

What are they like to work for?
Is it a structured 'FMCG typical' commercial operation?
What is the employees view of the Company?

I met a guy at a trade show I was exhibiting at, it was odd for them to be there as it was more b2b tech and they had cameras, photo printers and the like there

He said the level of management he reported in to was very good, above that, it got a bit flakey. So if your immediate line manager is decent, then I guess you'll be OK. They're such a huge company though, it'd be hard to make a judgement call just based on that. The benefits were fairly decent he said, including discounts

Surely staff discounts alone is worth it??

Depends on the discount?

If it's 15% off RRP, for example, that would hardly compete with the High Street price (or at least what is left of the High Street).

If considering some of the more exotic stuff it might be worthwhile.

Good experience I would imagine, no matter what the discounts.

I applied for a position as Business Development Executive with them and got offered the role. When I was in the final interview I asked about benefits, car policy etc; the guys running the interview hadn't a clue. They were so unprofessional that I came away severely disappointed that they could consider sitting in front of someone to whom they had offered a job and not be in a position to discuss what they were going to pay me, where I was going to work and the car I was going to drive.

When I detailed my current role to them they sat there open mouthed and said how they always looked to my employer as being the market leader and always saw us as the benchmark in professionalism. Needless to say I politely declined their offer. Grass was definitely not greener on the other side.

Mind you I am now a Canon user so could be tempted if they had a decent discount scheme wink

Good idea - I had a look, but unfortunately information is a bit scarce frown
