New Porsche experience
Discussion
Picked up my new car on Thursday night Carrera 4 GTS, had good fun in it lovely car. Got up early on Sunday morning to go on a run. Met other cars including Mclaren and Lamborghini. Had fun on motorway. To cut a long story short, lost transmission was only doing 40, car stuck in 6th. Managed to hobble to Amari cars , car died. Not impressed rang Porsche recovery, was informed my vehicle did not exist, the registration was assigned to a Cayenne diesel. Told to take my car to nearest porsche dealer and to get bus home. Told them it was sunday, reply was sunday services. Not helpful at all. An ac truck turned up, to take car asked how I was getting back told him with him, was news to him.
Not bad 3 day old Carrera 4 GTS 300 miles on the clock in total and the hydraulics for the transmission are gone. Porsche informed me they would check for driver error.
Not the good experience that Porsche make it out to be.

It's worse than you think. Your car appears to be upside down. Not bad 3 day old Carrera 4 GTS 300 miles on the clock in total and the hydraulics for the transmission are gone. Porsche informed me they would check for driver error.

I would be on the phone to the dealer telling them that they should sort it pronto and provide you with a courtesy car in the meantime or you will have to consider rejecting the car. If you have legal expenses cover under your insurance call them and if the OPC isn't grovelling with apologies I would go ballistic very quickly. Is the car on finance? A call to the finance company telling them ou are considering rejecting the car will put the fear of God into them if it is. Good luck.
Spend about £200.00 on a solicitors letter along the lines of "not fit for purpose" however the law states that you must give them the chance to fix it, not really what you'd expect from a new car is it, showrooms all have lots of money spent on them etc, etc and you get treated like this, very poor show.
I hope it gets sorted, best of luck

My thoughts go out to you, I was at Amari and saw your car there (looks lovely by the way !!).
Not a nice experience however have faith, sure it will all be sorted soon and then you can continue to enjoy it.
Until then, enjoy the loan car (assuming they will give you something also very nice to make amends ;-)

The law doesn't state that the OP must give them the chance to fix it. I hope it gets sorted, best of luck
But regardless of that, however poor the experience has been, I probably WOULD give them that opportunity and attempt to manage the situation. Then not buy from them again.

Not quite so sure of that, at the end of the day I am only an unfortunate customer, that happens to be a lawyer.
Sorry to hear of your experience ....must be totally gutting esp in this weather ...Not quite so sure of that, at the end of the day I am only an unfortunate customer, that happens to be a lawyer.
I hope its something small and fixed pronto so you can enjoy the real Porsche experience ie driving the car
Im sure you realise cars are mechanical and sometimes they go wrong no matter how much they cost or how new they are ... I will be interested to see what the fault turns out to be ...
Its a very bad show from Porsche, glad you got it home ok (I was the one who gave the driver directions for you).
Which Porsche dealer did it come from?
I hope you get it all sorted ASAP but them saying driver error sounds like they haven't a clue what is going on, certainly not the impression they want to give to a customer.

I'm sure you're right, but in 2004 my own persoanl experience was my solicitor telling me that we first have to give them the opportunity ( we set a time limit) to remedy the very problem that was causing the vehicle in this case a commercial to be considered not fit for purpose, Nissan dealer then supplied a loan vehicle within 24 hour of receiving the letter and three days latter we got our van back with a new diesel metering unit fitted. Prior to the letter it had sat at the rear of the dealership for four days whilst a stream of untruths came from the service department, hence the solictors letter. But regardless of that, however poor the experience has been, I probably WOULD give them that opportunity and attempt to manage the situation. I think that's more or less how you view it ?
I'm far from an expert in law, and i'm guessing you had a similar experienc.
just trying to pass on some real life experience to another Ph member who's in the grip of bad luck.

The "driver error" comment was for sure out of order and unfortunate (even if they do check this..shouldn't have mentioned it to you at this stage) IMO
But isn't this getting a bit harsh now ?? I would expect any OPC would be VERY understanding, apologetic and accommodating in cases like this. Fully expect OP is now driving around in a nice loan car (991 even ??).
So before we all start burning our Porsche mags / T-Shirts etc... let's maybe find out what the OPCs reaction actually was ??
Or do I make the mistake of giving people the benefit of the doubt ;-)
