An urgent requirement with one of my key clients, they are looking to interview next week with starters for as soon as after.



My client is a leading motorsport organisation who is expanding at a very good rate working on F1, motorsport and commercial applications within the automotive sector, they are now seeking skilled Development Engineer to assist with their high influx of exciting projects and F1 peak, below are some of the specifications of the role for you to review.



This role is a 6 month contract initially

JOB SPECIFICATION

The position is that of Brakes Development Engineer for high performance road / race cars.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaison with CAE function / suppliers to ensure braking system meets all performance / attribute targets

• Generate and maintain development plans. Manage development activities to ensure targets are met

• Liaise with other Design / Development functions and suppliers to promote successful system integration.

• Development of foundation brakes in terms of performance and refinement using rig and, predominantly, vehicle based testing / evaluation.

• Sign off vehicle braking system and report / document results.

• Identify brake system issues and lead to technical resolution (often leading cross-functional teams)

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Proven capability of successfully developing high performance vehicle braking systems in terms of performance and refinement.

• High level of driving ability and subjective assessment skills

• Formal driver training qualifications from Industry recognised organisation / OEM

• Familiarity with chassis system test instrumentation, data-logging and data-processing

• Ability to adapt and overcome setbacks in development environment

• Ability to self-motivate to achieve the best possible result with minimum supervision

• Flexible attitude to working hours when required to meet project deliverables

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

• CAE brake development (performance and thermal modelling)

• Brake performance / refinement rig test / optimisation

• Carbon ceramic brake development

• Regenerative brake integration / development

• Slip control system development

I can't imagine there are too many people with that experience.

I've bled a lot of brakes and changed a few pistons.

This would be my dream job.

Ask him if there is any room for a 17 year old who is part of one of the most successful racing teams in Britain.

- 5 times scottish Mini Cooper Racing Champions.

- 2 times English Mini Champions.

- 1 times Porsche Cup Champions and our driver is currently in the Carerra Cup GB.

Im pretty sure there is more but i cant remember right now .

I also have retail experience I think im pretty well suited for his job

Not really, its called being a professional engineer, everyone who aspires to be or thinks of themselves as a professional engineer should be able to tick that box on the CV.
