It was almost the end for me a couple of hours ago. I came up to this roundabout in the outside lane. There were two cars in front of me, one in each lane. I followed the car in front. I must have hit some diesel, the back end just went. Managed to regain control so a happy ending for me.

A big thankyou to the guy in the silver car in the left hand lane who appeared to notice me sliding and backed off to give me some room. I hope I didn't stray too far into your lane or give you a fright.

I've been round that roundabout a lot quicker than that in the wet before without a problem. Hence I think there might be some diesel spilled on the road, possibly from the buses coming out of the park n ride.

If anyone else is passing this roundabout take care.

The A71 - Roundabout next to park n ride. Near Edinburgh.

The location of the roundabout was supposed to be in the title to this thread but for some reason the title wasn't added.

Which direction were you going mate? It is a particulary bad roundabout for diesel spills, I go along the A71 every day so have spotted a few. Not as bad as the one that leads to the bus depot right enough but still more than average.

So many buses going round it I suppose its always going to happen.

Bus and haulage companies really should get a bleachin' for diesel and oil spills.

I was heading along the A71, coming into Edinburgh, I was exiting onto the Calder Road.

Aye thats the way I come in the morning, often find if the roads just a bit damp from it simply being early in the morning that it can be a bit slidy. Good fun if on an early start at the weekend right enough....

What do you drive? Got a ph1 red 172 that you might see about on there!

Fair point hehe, but I've had a Scudo van on opposite lock round that roundabout presumably on diesel/water yikes

Not sure if related, but on the day in question Quality Street and then Queensferry Road (westbound) were absolutely awash with diesel just after 5pm. The road surface was a rainbow and the stench was very strong. Saw several vehicles sliding it round from Quality St to Q'ferry Rd.

No wonder you nearly crashed.

Keep that behaviour for the bedroom.

Lol I had my first LoOS on that roundabout in my GTI-6. I'm that along there on a Saturday morning and Sunday evening. if you see a rattly, 'please put em out of my misery' looking Black GTI-6 on an unusual plate feel free to not get too close!
