Petrol tank cradle
Discussion
Could anyone please check the box section dimensions, I thought it was 45 x 30mm but popped into my friendly steel stockist's today and was told that's not a "standard size" ?
Car is away for a few days having hood replaced so can't check tonight. It's not urgent but would like to know if it's me can't use a tape measure or is it an odd size?
If my measurements are correct anyone got about a foot spare?

If you are making a new one I don't see what issues it would create if the tube was slightly bigger provided you did the appropriate head scratching and got the holes in the right place etc.
I would make some holes in the bottom tube at each end to let water out (it fills up with water then rots out) then get it galvanised rather than paint or powder coat.
Galv doesn't cost much.

Hi Mike,
I've just been out & measured mine now it's stopped raining.
Guess what? Different on each side!
LH Tank support is 46x30 mm
RH 2"X 1" or 50x25 mm.
No help to you whatsoever, sorry !
The cradle was rebuilt some time prior to me owning my S1.
By the way, what sort of can opener did that?
