Sierra header tank

maybe tvr did this for a while, maybe it was a modification, maybe I was dreaming.. I seem to recall one of you gents has a sierra header tank mounted to the swirlpot.? If so could I see some pics please esp of the mounting.

Few slightly different shapes depending on which Sierra but can't see it fitting too neatly?

Can't remember who did it but if I recall correctly it was a standard (SD1) one clamped to the swirl pot

If you have the pressure cap on the swirl pot then all you need is a container to catch the expansion water and allow it to be sucked back in as the engine cools. A neat solution would be like the TR series Triumphs but the parts are a bit pricey. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID006557

Some later V8S's had this arrangement from the factory when they moved the washer bottle out of the boot - the washer bottle went on the bulkhead where the expansion tank was.

The previous owner fitted it, but I put the standard TVR one back when I upgraded to the silicon pipes. I hadn't removed the sierra one when I took the above photo.

It was attached to a metal tray that was glued to the passenger bulkhead.

Looking at that picture, I think I need to get the cleaning stuff out and go and give the engine bay a clean as it's not that clean anymore!

The alternative is to replace the pastic SD1 expansion tank with a brass MGB one as Norman did (and I flatteringly copied).

This is Mk1, the original plastic tank relocated.....




Then this is Mk2, out with all the plastic and mild steel and in with a bit of stainless.....
