Hmm,
We have always used whatever was about until recently when we got a 1D MkII (thank you PH seller, Mrs loves it to bits) and thought we should make the effort.
Bought a 16Gb class 10 and to be honest it seems no different to all the others we have had before in terms of speed and sometimes takes a few goes to get the SD port on our laptops and those of friends to read that it is even there.
Bought from a reputable retailer so doubt that it's a hookey one.

My totally uninformed hunch is that the faster a card is, and the bigger it is, the more fickle it might be. Boundaries of technology and all that. So as long as you choose a speed/capacity that is suitable for what you want to do, I don't see the point in going faster or bigger.
On this note I also think that having a whole holiday on one SD card is asking for the loss of all your photos. I tend to take a load in the first few days then put that card safely away knowing that if the worst happens we'll have some photos to look back on.Simpo Two said:

peace of mind that your photos will be there when you come to download them. (the recovery software works well too).
