perfect moments
Discussion
Been rather busy the last couple of weeks, commuting by bike and, thanks to complicated moving circumstances, having my hack stuck halfway through a singlespeed conversion with the tools I need to finish the job some distance away, leaving me to commute on the road bike - nice bike but I'd rather something a little more relaxed for getting into work, I've had little time or inclination to just go for ride. Cycling's something I've had to do, rather than wanted to.. Especially with this weather.
But today - got out for an hour or so, about a third of the way through I had a moment... the sun to my right, a shadow of a cyclist on the grass verge, with its hands in the drops, cruising along at a steady 23mph through what feels like it could be ten thousand miles from the next human being (even if the reality was only a few hundred yards from a main road), no concerns about road tax, red lights or presumed liability. Perfection, or at least if felt like it.
The rest of the ride wasn't too bad either. No real point, just felt like getting it out there
I bet someone's going to come along and post a picture of themselves on top of an alp to trump me now

Funny, I had one of those moments coming out of Henley towards Nettlebed last week but the circumstances were slightly different, 4 miles of climbing, pouring rain running down my face, torrents of water running down the hill, legs burning, staring at the tarmac 10 foot in front so I don't have to visualise the length of the incline - smiles all the way!!!!
