£130 fine for cycling in the Olympic lanes?

Erm, err, forgive me for being thick, but last time I looked at my bicycles, there was no registration plate or identifying marks connecting it to me?
So how on earth will they enforce this?
Ok, I guess if a copper is close enough to be able to stop you, maybe, but even if a copper in a car starts to chase you - surely if you just bugger off down a pathway or whatever, you're away?
Would the Met really throw a huge bunch of Police resource into chasing you down for this???

Embankment is a joke already at times, and that is with the lanes open to traffic. Not sure what will happen tbh, I'll ride on the pavement if its too dangerous on the roads. Or as said above I'll cycle in the lane and we'll see if a copper can catch me. f

Is nobody else angered at the fact that we will all be snarled up in standstill traffico ne one lane in our own country, whilst the Olympic lane sits empty until a foreign man of no real importance, swans by in a car. Why should he get that treatment? It's not as if they're royalty or anything! I'm shocked the government have even done it!
Much as I am looking forward to the sporting part of the Olympics, London is taking it in the ar5e from the IOC with the traffic lanes, re-scheduling of traffic lights etc. Someone seems to have forgotten that millions of people live and have to work here with an already creaking infrastructure, so telling us to plan our journeys to avoid the Games congestion etc is just a little bit

They are already painted up on the A30 at Egham by the Ferrari garage. What the hell is up that direction? Gren said:

There's a load of athletes stating at the Royal Holloway University in Egham, hence the lane!It's gonna be bedlam round there when the lane's in operation, it's bad enough round there as it is!
Forgive I from sounding a bit thick, but why the heckedy flip don't they just register all of the vehicles to be used by the 'games family', and give them an exemption from bus lane regulations. That way they could have saved all the expense of signs and road painting, and where there aren't any bus lanes, the 'special ones' could just mix it with those of us who still breath air and sh*t through the holes in our ar**s.
Another alternative would be to provide dedicated buses to move athletes and officials around. Either way it would negate the need for spending money we don't got, on a huge fleet of BMWs, and signage and paint that will also cost to remove. Money that will fill the pockets of contractors who will no doubt be charging 'special' Olympics prices, along with every other money grabbing toe rag in the South East for the next month. I'm looking forward to the sport, but the whole thing seems to turn into more of a racket, and a spivs' charter by the day.
Does anyone know if there will be time restrictions on these Games Lanes? eg: usable by mortal man before 7am and after 8pm, or are they set aside 24/7 for the duration of the games?

I think we can use the part of the road that we always used after 10pm and before 5am. I have also noticed that some of the routes will allow bicycles and motorbikes whilst others do not. Cue confusion and lots of fines (for us motorcyclists).

Looking at the news this lunchtime, it was showing the Olympic organisers proudly showing off the Olympic Transport that is to be used.
The common term is a bus, although some posh folks may call them coaches.
So I guess the Olympic lanes are just fancy bus lanes then?

Exactly this, how and who is going to enforce these lanes? Who is going to 'fine' drivers/cyclists who use them? I cannot find out. I also think the 'legality' is dubious, every lane will need to have a proper, legal sign at regular intervals clearly stating the regulations, like bus lanes do. Simple painted lines and words on the road are for guidance only.cjs said:

The same people who currently hand out fixed penalties for running reds and riding on the pavement. The police (I'm sure I've seen PSCOs do it as well but I may be mistaken), usually on push or motorbikes. I doubt that anything will actually come of this but I suspect this is just to deter swathes of cyclists filling up the Olympic lanes.
