first music CD purchase

I had the day off today and eventually ended up in HMV with my little lad. He was after a Wii game for his 8th birthday and after finding his target for a few quid off, he decided he needed a CD and could spend his "change" on one.
We scoured the racks, he was quite interested in Steppenwolf, Iron Maiden, and a couple of other classic beat combos, but eventually ended up with Help! and has spent all afternoon listening to it!
Help is the one beatles record I have never owned - my parents had a mono original that I used to listen to, there are some charming tracks on it, I quite enjoyed my afternoon, although we did have to sit in the car as we don't currently have a CD player in the house

fairly impressive to have nothing in the house that would play a CD these days.
I think I've got 3 DVD players, one bluray, 4 consoles, 2 computers, 2 laptops, a portable DVD player and an old 90's personal CD player.
Possibly a little OTT for a family of 3 but I'd be surprised to find a house these days that had nothing that could play one in, but had a computer / TV etc.

After a couple of years living overseas, we havent got around to getting any proper hifi gear - I sold it all before we left the country - we still have a couple of cardboard boxes full of CD's that havent been opened since we got back to the UK 3 years ago. a lot of them are stored on my macbooks - we have 2 but the cd drive in one is broken. the macs are wfi'd to a set of jbl creatures and this serves as hifiI think I've got 3 DVD players, one bluray, 4 consoles, 2 computers, 2 laptops, a portable DVD player and an old 90's personal CD player.

we do have a couple of dvd players, but they are simply hooked up to tellys and not that impressive for listening to music
So the best place we have to listen to CD's is the jeep, which has a reasonable stereo
CD's are so last century....
