I want to treat the girlfriend to a night in a very nice hotel. We live in Cardiff so near by would be good. Or we could head west and drop the baby off with mother in law in Cardigan and get something near there. Any recommendations?

The Harbourmaster in Aberaeron is not too far from Cardigan and has had some good reviews.

Has to be the Celtic Manor, surely?

I thought the food was good but wasn't overly impressed with the hotel. Few years since I stayed there though.

How the hell are you going to book a hotel whose name is unpronounceable?

Miskin manor all the way..... Stayed there a few times, food very good, health spa attached, and four poster beds :-) niiiiice

Think they do packages for weekends and the like including dinner and accom.

Also good as a jumping off point for Rhossili and the Gower, plus lots of good valley driving roads....

Enjoy :-)

Mrs944 and I got married at the St Davids in Cardiff, very nice. Quite expensive and I might say it borders slightly on overpriced drinks and food wise.

We also looked at Coed-y-mwstwr but the travel links weren't so good for the wedding, nice place though, we had dinner there last Christmas and that was very nice.

Llangoed Hall on the edge of the Brecon Beacons has a lot of character and history.

I can recommend Slebech Park near Haverfordwest: http://www.slebech.co.uk/

It was my wedding venue. Their grounds and the view of the river are pretty special!
