This is my first thread so go easy biggrin

I've been watching classic car prices fairly carefully over the past few years and they have seen a steady rise, inparticular Volkswagens of which I am into and have been on the search for the right beetle for a long time. Do you guys think that prices have reached there high or are they going to continue to rise? Also do you think that there is going to be a crash in the near future?

(Oh and sorry if this has been covered before I had a quick search but couldn't see anything)

Welcome to PH! I am with you on prices remaining strong although some are at a peak I would suggest. Split Screen vans, especially barn doors and sambas' can only go one way in my opinion. There is an ok late bay window camper near me up for £12k and I think that that is a pretty fair price. 67 and earlier Beetles are always more popular than the later ones and I cannot see that changing but reckon the 1302/3 will improve once people realise how good they are; even if they are aesthetically ugly! I am hoping Karmann Ghia's especially convertibles go up through the roof!!!

With their handling you'll probably be the one going through the roof...

Damn fine car tho'

Beetles etc never fluctuate much really. As with most classics, the really immaculate ones fetch big money and the rest follow according to condition. Just buy the best (body condition) you can.

I can't see there being a crash soon. Classics are generally not old any more, they're past old.
All the old classics I want, are very cheap. I can see them going up in price if anything.

All I need is a big windfall, and a large aircraft hanger. cloud9

I hope not, roof cost me a fortune, best go through it when its down then! Handling isn't great but then the power hardly makes it a demon to drive, a 1980's Porsche Turbo it is not; more a relaxed SoCal boulevard cruiser...not that we have those in Portsmouth.

Boulevards.. Pompey..... Now there's a thought!
First saw a Karman GFhia when walking to school in the early 60's - any VW was a rare thing then. Still getting over WW2 / Germans / etc I suppose. Left a lasting impression though!
