My wife is due to travel Saturday morning early from Glasgow on the holiday of a lifetime for her 40th birthday with all her girlfriends and looks like her passport is lost. She had it 2 weeks ago but now cannot find it anywhere, we have ransacked the house more than once and its no where to be found, we think its maybe ended up in the bin and of course that was collected on Monday.

Phoned passport office today and they say its not possible to do the premium same day service for a lost passport only for a replacement when you have the existing one. Does anyone have any ideas at all how to bypass this?

Holiday is to Cannes in France for 1 week, I thought you could maybe travel in Europe without but sounds like that is not possible either!!

Eternally grateful for any help.

Do it by train or car, take the risk of not being asked. Then declare passport missing in France in nearest embassy..

Forgers kit and night of stickers, scalpels and uhu stik..

Both illegal by the way.

Could always delay the trip whilst waiting for a replacement and take the flight back if travelling by air of course.

Can't be delayed, its been organised for months to get them all together at the same time. I did wonder if it got checked on the way out on Eurotunnel, she could always fly to London and then get on the train, anyone have any experience?

Sorry, Eurotunnel has a passport control point. I suspect you're not leaving the country tomorrow.

I have been on eurotunnel from Dover 3 times in the last 8 months, and only on the way back was my passport checked, never on the way out.

not really.

Put all passports in a specific place and leave them there until needed for travel.

If only you'd found it OP, you'd have won yourself an access all areas pass for this evening.
