Oil change - 2005 Boxster S
Discussion
I have got a 2005 Boxster S that has only covered 17,000 miles.
I had the 6 year service done last year at about 14,000 miles so there is no scheduled service due until June 2013. This is my first car with a 2 year service interval and I still don't feel entirely comfortable with leaving the same oil in for that long, even on a car that is only used on the weekends.
Does anyone else who does low miles change it more regularly? My mileage is unlikely ever to top 5,000 per year, but a lot of that is town driving.

Thanks for the replies. The consensus seems to be to change it.
I assume that anyone who offers an oil & filter change will be able to do this? I'll just buy some Mobil 1 and take it to my local place I think.
If you mean OPC or recommended Porsche specialist then yes. Don't go to Kwikfit or some other uncles company. I assume that anyone who offers an oil & filter change will be able to do this? I'll just buy some Mobil 1 and take it to my local place I think.

I honestly believe that anyone not doing an annual oil change (or 12k if sooner) on ANY Porsche regardless of the type of oil used is absolutely nuts.
In fact, I will go as far to say you get what you deserve. Despite what Porsche say!!!!

I would go further still. In the 60's I believe oil was supposed to be changed every couple of thousand miles. To go any more than that between changes must be madness also?In fact, I will go as far to say you get what you deserve. Despite what Porsche say!!!!
