Wheel Refurb for a good price Fareham / Portsmouth / Soton
Discussion
Afternoon folks,
As the nice weather is here...... I would like to get my Alloy Wheels refurb'd on my BMW 120d. It's a job i've been meaning to get done since i bought the car last year. I've used ChipsAway before (Midlands franchise when i lived in that area) who did an Ok... job on a previous car it was more my price range, I've had a quote from the Wheel Specialists in Fareham who quoted £360 for 4 wheels which to be honest is too expensive for me.
Can anyone recommend anyone in the area who does a good job, and wont charge me a fortune to have it done, The alloys are curbed, not split so will need rubbing / painting.
Cheers In Advance

If you fancy a road trip to Basingstoke, I'd consider these guys. They do exactly the same as the place in Fareham for less. They quoted me £75 inc VAT per 19" wheel... Will probably be less if the wheels are smaller. I live near Fareham and was considering making the trip as it would save over £100 for my refurb, but I'd spend that in fuel anyway so it was a false economy for me.
Fareham Wheel Specialists are excellent and worth the money if you can afford it and will turn the car around on the same day... Basingstoke stated a 2-3 day turnaround!!!
When I've got the cash, I'll be going to Fareham... They've done a good job on lots of cars I've seen including two of my mates cars.

Have to agree about The Wheel Specialist although dearer than the quotes I had got they were prepared to do a bit of haggling, and it turns out the wheels to my A610 were a bit rough underneath the paint coating but they just did them and the results are first class. The old saying of you get what you pay for applies here.
It's great to hear all of these glowing reports about The Wheel Specialist in Fareham, as I've been giving some thought to having mine done there.
Can they really do a long lasting A1 refurbishment in just one day though? I'd imagined 2-3 days minimum for an acid strip, any repairs and all the steps in between to lacquering and refitting?
It was the logistics of this that I've been pondering, as Wicked Wheels offer a service where they come to you, remove the wheels, leave the car on axle stands, take the wheels away to be acid stripped/powder coated etc, then bring them back and refit to the car several days later - all for £75 per wheel.

I guess it depends on how much work your wheels will need doing? I'm pretty sure TheJimReaper left his car with them in the morning and then I dropped him off in the afternoon to collect it 'job done'! Mind you, his wheels were near on perfect to start with so I'm not sure to what extent the refurb process was required. I'm sure they'll be able to tell you if you ask...
