Double Credited Transfer
Discussion
I've had similar happen to me where the sum involved was £1,600 or thereabouts.
I moved it elsewhere and said nothing. Two months later the company involved wrote to me and told be they were going to debit the amount in X days (x was 7-14 days). I simply moved the money back and enjoyed the interest.

There was a case some time ago in Australia when a bank transferred £500,000 odd into a couples account. They promptly transferred it elsewhere and then disappeared.
The bank is still looking for its money. But I cannot recommend dishonesty. So far as I know the couple are still on the missing list.
Sir Bagalots advice is correct.

Do you mean New Zealand? And $6 million? If so, you're right There was a case some time ago in Australia when a bank transferred £500,000 odd into a couples account. They promptly transferred it elsewhere and then disappeared.

Mind you, they were caught up with.
And now he's pleaded guilty to theft (because that's what it is).
And he'll (no doubt) be sentenced to a spell in chokey in October, when he's back in court.
