Are OPC really doing so well to ignore existing customers???
Discussion
My wife is now expecting and I am looking to change the Boxster S for a Cayenne. However....
Is it just me or are some Porsche Main Dealers dropping the ball recently? I am looking at buying a used car and I have recently called up a few dealers to enquire about one of their cars and they aren't even returning my calls.
Is this becoming common practice with OPC because if so I really may change brands!

Same can be said for all dealers of all manufacturers really, nightmare on call backs. I typically find they respond well to email! I wouldn't turn your back on Porsche as a result of this, just try them again or best move, walk into the dealership.
Quite funny though, was in my local OPC this morning whilst work was being done; spent 3 hours there, as I did last Monday and amazing how many staff they have and zero customers. There must have been 20 sales guys this morning and only 1 customer came in interested in a car. The sales staff were buying tapping the keyboards though...and drinking coffee!!!

It a malaise not even just restricted to the motor trade. What your witnessing is a sad decline in customer service, which adds to our uncompetitiveness as a nation. We've all experienced this, but hopefully we've all experienced occasional good service, which may often bring us back as repeat customers. Sadly, some organisations and their managers just don't have the training or insight to spot how important this is for a business. In similar circumstances, I usually let the person in charge know of how I have been dealt with. This usually results in an apology and an offer of goodwill to retain my custom. The simple solution though is to vote with your feet and seek out best service and stick with them. Good luck!Is it just me or are some Porsche Main Dealers dropping the ball recently? I'm affraid this happens all the time - I went to Colchester OPC one Sat (in my Cayenne) to look at a Boxster S after the sales team failed to call me back during the week (twice).
I introduced myself to the sales chap who subsequently left me unattended for 45 mins whilst I waited to discuss the car in the showroom.
I spoke to the receptionist who said - "sorry, they must be busy - can you come back in the week"....
I left

Is it just because the profits of all Porsche dealers are down? There are some good dealers, but most members of staff seem to have gone into this apothetic cocoon where they have their heads down, trying to look busy and seem to be missing the passion and attention to detail that they were once renown for.
I've not had any bad service - but it's just all been a bit mediocre.

I emailed my sales chap 3 weeks ago for the retro-fit cost of an X51 kit to my 991S.
Never got back to me !!!!.
And thats what I just dont get - seemingly throwing away £££'s......its ridiculous!Never got back to me !!!!.
In the absence of mitigating circumstances, what would the dealer principle think of that? In my line of work, if we failed to follow up on a client request for peripheral business we'd be well and truly in the 5hit!!

And yet a friend and I popped in OPC Sheffield on Saturday and were asked by 2 salesman and the receptionist if we needed anything, after the salesman made us a coffee we had a long chat about a Cayman S/R that I'm after... Great service!
It's a pity you didn't ask them about my email!!!!!!!!! see aboveall car dealers (generally speaking) are s
te at developing relationships with customers for the long-term!
unless you are buying now - they haven't got any interest in you.
deal with it - a dealer is not your friend - they just want your cash - move on like the most customers do!

PS - swanky showrooms, free tea + coffee + biscuits, smiling and letting you (not the OP) and your sad family run a muck round the showroom - clambering in and out of their new pork, generally wasting peoples time cause you have nothing better to do on a weekend - is NOT customer service/care/relationship building!

One thing to remember that these guys must get a lot of people calling in looking (Then requesting Quotes, specs building and emailing), wanting to drive these cars and not actually have the intension to buy. I spoke to a sales guy that I know very well and they don't get time for lunch.
I find email the best way
