Alternative camping now S club is cancelled

I was camping a couple of years back at a place called Barn farm just thru the village of Birchover. It has a fabulous flat field ideal for cars. There are toilet and shower facilities, and they allow you to do your own BBQ and the best bit is a 5min walk to the village where there are 2 pubs, one of which is a "gastro" pub.[excellent food]
Its about 10 mins away from Chatsworth in between Bakewell and Matlock so in an ideal area for a "hoon".
From memory there is plenty of space, we just check on the weather a few days before, and if alls ok we can just turn up.
I have phoned them this evening and there is no need to book just contact them 48 hours or so beforehand to give an estimate of numbers.
I was thinking of camping friday and saturday but all are welcome to camp one evening or both evenings.
Its an ideal opportunity to still meet/camp/BBQ and have a nice drive on the saturday.
Chatsworth house is close by, as are the towns of Bakewell and matlock which are both worth a visit.
All of this is subject "to the weather" which i shall check mon/tue 2nd/3rd July.
If it looks reasonably good and dry then i will be going for sure.
If the forcast is poor then no one has to go.
I shall phone them 3rd/4th july once i know the forecast is good to give approx numbers of tents/people camping.
I will also ask at this time would they mind a "few more tivs" turning up on the sunday for a little meet at the campsite if there is room.
I stress again that if the weather isnt good, i wont be going and camping myself, so no one has to "commit"
Any body interested [non commital and weather permitting] just add your name to this thread and number of tents/people camping.

So you see, we "hairdressers" might just be able to save the day........english summer weather permitting.

3. Me and Dean - we're going come what may! After torrential rain, hail, gales and scorching sun on previous SCHs, we're not going to be defeated by the weather this year.
TJC46 - the campsite you suggest sounds ideal, and the Red Lion was CAMRA pub of the year in 2010...

It sounds like we can stick pretty much to the original plan for Saturday. One suggestion for Sunday - instead of the campsite, could we rendezvous somewhere else nearby to meet up with day trippers - for example a nice pub with a large car park? Lack of local knowledge prevents me from making a more specific suggestion.
Well done for 'picking up the baton' !!

Really sad news about the S club, and thanks to Simon for his efforts.
As I was also going, I have my pass book stamped by SHMBO, and the S fueled and ready to go, so if a campsite can be sorted i am up for it. (If possible the campsite should have in order of importance, and a pub close by, toilets, can park cars next to pitches), but I'm not fussy.
I also am hoping to have sorted the purchase of a Chimaera before the S Club date, if all works out to plan, I intend to bring the new toy and let my Brother bring my S, assuming you guys don't mind an extra TVR adding to the noise.

7. Include me please, definitely up for it, I love Chatsworth weather!
What's the drainage like on that field? Don't want my beer floating away!
Phillpot, I don't think your supposed to have fried beer for breakfast.
Everyone knows you do it on the barbie.:b
ETA. Ok Barry, it's stopped raining, I might pop out later to weigh up the best way to tackle Druids.
Probably end up trapped in a cement works.

Mike, did you really want LAGER? I'm afraid the beer tokens are only valid for proper beer.

I've been on Barn Farm, very happy indeed with that, although we will need to try to book an area as it does get busy (schools will have a lot of Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition groups out that weekend and Barn Farm does get a lot of these groups). I am pretty sure he has some overspill space so we could get an area together provided he knows in advance. Anybody who doesnt know the area can be assured it is a great driving area with great scenery.
All being well I will be in Chesterfield friday night and join you Saturday morning, so book me a tent space for Saturday night!
