S-Club 2012 CANCELLED
Discussion
A massive sorry to all those who have signed up but after a good deal of soul searching I have decided that I have no option but to cancel SCH 2012.
Basically the problem is simply a lack of sign up for the event which has meant that the costs have all increased per head. If the event went ahead I would have to stand a risk of a significant personal financial loss. Cancelling still means a loss but this is small and I'll cover it.
Not everyone who signed up had paid me, but to those who have I will send a refund, less the cost of the mugs which I will post out once I have received them as they have already been ordered and paid for.
This is a genuine apology, I'm not sure why the event has had low interest, but I accept that my busy work schedule has prevented me from putting greater time and effort into the organisation.
I will email all those who have signed up to make sure that they don't still turn up!
Once again very sorry. Simon.

Very sorry Simon after all your effort and hard work.
+1 Si so sorry to hear that after all your effort. Such a shame to loose it.
Viewing pictures of the Newark, Coventry and other SClubs in the past they looked so well attended.
Do you think other activitys over that weekend haven't helped.
There's a lot of Motorsport items happening that weekend.
At this stage I was one of the none goers with work commitments but was pushing hard
to get to at least part of it (Saturday poss) even if it wasn't in my V8S.
.....
Simon
I couldn't go but am sorry to hear this event has been cancelled, both for the organiers(s) and potential attendees
I know when I was part of the organising team in 2008 & 9 I had this "will they come?" fear at the back of my mind. That is why we were careful not to commit any of our own money for anything and ran the events for zero cost. All that we needed to pay for was the souvenier mugs, shirts etc which were not ordered until we'd got everyone's £s.
Perhaps the doom and gloom of the weather might be having an impact on enthusiasm for committing to events?
Let's hope for a better result in 2013

Any one else fancy a camping weekend on the Sheffield Area instead that weekend ?
Judging by the attendees list, there are at least 8 of us looking forward to a couple of nights under canvas (8 1/2 if you count Mike...)It's a bit last minute for arranging, but I'm up for it if anyone else is still keen. I can spare some time this weekend looking for a campsite in the area with space for us and a pub nearby. Snake Pass on Sat can still be done, and we could have a mini show in a council carpark on Sunday...
Tinks and Andy - I'm counting you in. Anyone else?
Graham
Really sorry to hear this and its a big shame after all the hard work that has been put in organising the event.
I was another of the non attendees as I was able to take the time off work. Was the same for Chatsworth too even though my car is still in pieces! Unfortunately summer weekends is the busiest time of year so I don't have too much of a life unless lucky with dates!
Hopefully the event will be run again in 2013 as I really enjoyed attending the show day last year and changing a lot of names to faces.

I'm so gutted to hear SCH is cancelled & feel sorry for you Simon after putting in so much effort. It must have been a hard decision. I'm struggling to understand the reason for the low sign-up, I was expecting a lot more to turn up at the last minute, especially if the sun came out to play.
Andy, Graham & Tinks, I'm still up for a weekend under canvas, providing my S passes MOT today. Perhaps we could still use the same venue, or will it all be closed up all weekend? We only need toilets, showers & a bar. Oh, and some sunshine would be nice.
C'mon, let's do it!
Cheers,
Glen.

PS. Phillpot, I've still got those beer tokens I promised.
How's that for incentive?

That is a real shame Simon, I feel for you, I know what it is like to have to 'pull' an event at short notice. Disheartening.
I know I was rather a late entry to the list but I wonder why it hasn't 'taken off' this year? Just a series of clashes? I have certainly enjoyed the two SCH's I have been to.
As far as a 'meet' at short notice goes, I am now almost certainly going to Chesterfield on the Friday night so meeting up for the 'hoon'* and camping Saturday night would certainly be 'on' for me. Can't miss a good excuse for a drive through the Derbyshire Dales
. Anyway, it wont be raining, it is bound to have run out by then.....wont it?

Shame as i was looking forward to tagging along for the hoon.
There are loads of campsites around the Bradwell/Hope/Castleton areas if you want to camp, you should still be able to make something of the weekend..........weather permitting
I was camping a couple of years back at a place i think was called Barn farm just thru the village of Birchover. It was a fabulous flat field ideal for cars and a 5min walk to the village where there was 2 pubs. There are loads of campsites around the Bradwell/Hope/Castleton areas if you want to camp, you should still be able to make something of the weekend..........weather permitting

Its about 10 mins away from Chatsworth in between Bakewell and Matlock so in an ideal area for a "hoon".
I shall check these details this eve when im at home, and post on here to confirm.
Im pretty sure from memory there is plenty of space, so possibly no need to book and commit, could be that we just check on the weather a few days before and if alls ok we can just turn up. Again if there is interest[non committal]i will contact them to check.
If anyone is interested i will raise a thread on here to gather numbers and i shall contact the campsite to discuss etc.
So you see, we "hairdressers" might just be able to save the day........weather permitting.
