Is this 997 Cabrio really cheap? Or is there a mistake?

I'm a bit confused (happens alot i know)? This 997 Gen 2 Cabrio is listed as being a 2012 model yet it's up for £42,950?

Listing here http://beta.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

Whereas this 2009 model is up around £50k, where i have seen most of the cabrios?

You can tell it's an older model by the rear lights. ( note the shape of the bottom of the light unit compared with the white car, also different 'internals' of the lights)

Must be partially due to the colour - Macadamia Metallic is not the most popular colour on a 997 ... hurl

Thanks all, it was ringing alarm bells when it said registered in 2012 yet just had a service!

Macadamia is a weird colour to have on a Porsche though eh?

I think macadamia looks fantastic. Too many boring black/silver cars of every make. Be different.

That sounds like the mantra of these people that turn up at black tie dos with crazy coloured bow ties and waistcoats... "look at me, I'm an individual. I have a really interesting personality"

No chum, you're just a censored. If you had an intertesting personality, you wouldn't need to resort to wacky dressing.

Not at all. I just think that whilst a black 911 looks good, people seem far too hung up on resale instead of buying what they want. Macadamia is a very subtle colour. If I was suggesting speed yellow with an aero kit, then I'd agree, but in the flesh macadamia looks great. Personally I thing silver looks ste, but lots of others like it. Doesn't make any of us wrong.

I've been in Germany all this week, and they don't seem nearly so stuck with black/silver. Lots of different colour cars over here. Some look good, some look bad.

I'd rather yellow than pooh colour like Macadamia (a fancy name for brown). Be different is what people said a few years ago with white and now every other new car seems to be white. I would say silver/grey is becoming different, if you really need to be different. Personally, I can't see the colour when I drive and I don't care what other people think of the colour of my car, hence depreciation being the most important criteria, for lack of another one.

And yet you chose to be a fan of their car styling!
Fantastic car maker, fantastic roads, still have a great manufacturing base and a relatively strong economy. So the British bastions of style find their fashion sense to pick on.

If that's your main criteria for buying a car then fair enough. If you really give a crap about depreciation though, a 911 is probably not the wisest choice (unless it's old or very rare).
I'm also not convinced you'll lose anymore on a less common colour, as they're a few grand cheaper to buy used, and yes you'll have to punt them on for a bit less when you get rid. But the differential will not be huge, and whilst the market for them will be smaller, someone will always like it, and priced properly, they'll sell.
Macadamia is a fairly brave choice, but there are quite a few out there, so some others must agree with me to have bought them new.

Exactly.
