I have been the proud owner of my 98 jaguar XJR for 5 years and sunk approx £12k into it, alas it's time for a change.

I am looking at sourcing a CL500, I will have a budget of around £7k and I am hoping for a 2000 - 2002 with 70k maximum, I know they are out there, in fact there seems to be a lot through the dealers but I would prefer a private seller.

I have owned a couple of Mercs in the past but want to know is there anything I should be aware of when looking.

I'd appreciate any comments.

I'd say look out for a 2003 if you could as that is when the facelift models came out which had much nicer interiors, bigger screen for the TV/Nav, a few external changes and are just a bit nicer. I've seen a few now around the £7k mark! So much car for the money!

Key things to look out for are suspension issues (any leaks/creaks) rust and electrics!
