Where to sell a DSLR?

Hi,
I have a Nikon D3000 which I am looking to sell.
I can see the same model sells quite well on eBay with lots of bids being placed however they take a 10% fee and an item insertion fee, most likely upto £10. So roughly £30 to sell the camera.
Has anybody sold their camera elsewhere with any luck?

You considered GumTree?

I've had really good experience and sold a fair few items in the last couple of weeks. Admittedly not sold any cameras but it's worth a look.

I'd try classifieds here or on other photography forums.

The classifieds forum on Talk Photogrpahy is very active bu thou need a minimum post count. Avforums has a decent classifieds section too.

I went for a low price on here compared to what I would have expected on Ebay before the charges. Six of one and half a dozen ... and all that. Met another nice PHer into the bargain !

All depends upon how "keen" you are to sell.

Plus, there's a few tactics that me and my friends always go for on Fleabay to ensure the highest interest for an object and although risks getting not very much, more often than not pushes up to a small premium over expectations.

So it's always a call between asking £X and probably getting close among a smaller audience or getting £X + a premium and then paying the premium in charges within a much greater audience.

Thanks for the suggestion Cheib, I knew there'd be forums out there but wasn't sure where. Don't think theymd be happy me signing up just to sell a camera then to bugger off
Anybody ever sold a camera to the likes of the cash generator shops?
Minimal hassle it would seem going via that route.

I put my dSLR and lens on gumtree and it sold eventually (was slightly underpriced, but overall beat the average eBay final price with 10% removed).

10% is hard to swallow when its personal stuff that you previously used a lot and liked.

I tried to go down that route, they would not take the body as there was dust on the view finder. I finally ended up selling to MPB Photographic. They were excellent to deal with and the whole process was easy and quick. I had tried to sell through the PH classifieds to no avail.

I just sold my D90 body through TalkPhotography this weekend.
Was on there only 2 days before I got a good offer.

I priced it very firmly at £400 and a guy just paid me £370 via bank transfer today.

All for free as well!
How much better and less hassle is that than eBay?

I try to sell stuff via specialist forums in the classifieds as much as possible whilst avoiding eBay if I can. I can't stand it these days, it's completely loaded in favour of the buyer and consequently they are free to mess you about, not pay, etc.
