8 speed Campag hub to 9/10 speed...

Need to try and find a means of running a 10 speed Campag cassette on a mid-90s Shamal 12 spoke HPW hub (straight pull spokes) - initially hoped just as simple as changing the freehub body to a current one. Seems the axle dia was increased for 10 speed however and this won't work. Have seen it mentioned that early (steel) 9 speed freehub bodies have the same axle dia as 8 speed but will take a 10 speed cassette. Any experience?

(I know the wheel dish may need changing)

Alternatively, anyone know of a source of NOS 8 speed ergo levers?

Had the same problem with some mavic cosmic 8 speeds. No way around it really other than as you say possibly getting a spaced 10 speed on but either way its a bit of a bodge. I ended up selling them as I didnt want to change the whole bike to 8 speed.(not possible to change the freehub on them).

If you dont mind changing to 8 speed I think that is the best solution. Just get looking on ebay ect.. for some early ergopowers. Apparently the later mid 90's 8 speed ergos are a fair bit better than the early versions.

You could ask the guy here: http://www.campyoldy.co.uk/ He normaly has stock of 8 speed stuff, if not currently- in the future.
