Some Help Please......
Discussion
Hi all, some help and assistance please
I have been working for my current employer for over 10 years now, in various roles within the business. After moving roles internally in 2009 I was asked by our MD to move back in my old position albeit in a different structure. I accepted, however there was no pay increase or company car. After 18 months of being back in this role, I have been put on performance management which stops me applying for any roles internally, I also feel I am being pushed out.
Any ideas on what I can do to motivate my self again?
Thanks

Problem I am facing is that any role on similar lines doesn't offer much of a salary and is miles away. I currently live very close to the office, meaning any role I apply for I have to take in consideration I have to look at the financial element of how much a move out of the company would cost me.
sounds like you are stuck in a negative loop.
On Performance Management
Job you don't really like
No motivating factor to change
Comfort zone
Step One - go and see your boss or manager, ask them exactly what you need to achieve to get back off Performance Management, tell them honestly that you recognise you have underdelivered, but urgently want to sort it out.
Put the time effort and sheer bloody hardwork in to get back into the business.
OR
Stop fannying around making excuses and get looking for anew role, NOW before they fire your ass

If what you say in your first post is accurate, your days are probably numbered there anyway. Which means your options on the face of it are probably (1) jump before you're pushed and eat the drop in pay / disposable in the short term and do something about it to make sure it's temporary - as in progress, or (2) wait until you're pushed and don't have the buffer afforded by your current wage. Personally I'd rather have that safety net than be forced to find something after I'd been shown the door when there wasn't one. Or of course you can try and become the model employee for your existing employer, get off the performance management crap, and do what they expect. But once impressions are cast, they're pretty hard to change. If you think you'd be making their life easier, or giving them the outcome they want by not being there anymore, chances are it's time you move on before it's not your choice to.
