I've been told the best thing to do is book the hotel when you get there as the deals you can get are fair better then pre booking.

I'm fine with this as im going on my own on a last minute flight deal, but can anyone recommend anywhere to stay? I'l be looking at Patong and hopefully close to the beach and main drag area.

Loads of places, book when you arrive, was there for the bike week 4 weeks ago and it is cheap, I never book when I go to Patong as I tend to drive or bike it so never know when I will arrive, What do you want. CN Hotel in center of patong is clean but no pool, but cheap if you are on your own. Sand Hotel on Bangla road, (defintly on;y if you are on your own) its where all the girls who don't find some one go as a last stop before going home. Yorkshire in is clean and cheap B and B.
Coconut resort on the south end of the beach is good, pool and all you want 150 metres to the beach walk to patong but far enought away, its where I always stay with the kids.
The Austrian place 150 metres N bangla road on the second street is very good, and I can recomend that 2500 with breakfast for two. (can't rember the name at the moment.
If you want the holiday Inn tyoe places there are loads, and they are the same as Holiday in places every where else.
First Bunglow resort is OK as is PP Bungalow and these are the first places you will see on the lft when you get to Patong from the airport in thye taxi.
Try Coco nut I like it.
Tou should get a good place with apool for 50 pound anight with breakfat for two.
Do not use an agent and do not book at the airport or using the taxi driver.

Ye a holiday in type of hotel is really all im after. close to patong beach and the main strip.

Ive been told by others its ok to book at the airport but you think just go straight to the main strip?

Ive also been told you can get decent rooms for under £10 a night? breakfast isn't something im worried about having included as il just find somewhere new each day

if you want to be in the middle of the action, go to C&D hotel, inexpensive, very clean and central location.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I'm sat waiting for the taxi to take me to the airport and off I go.

Lets just hope the sun comes out over there between the rain clouds

Have a fantastic time! Who are you flying with and how much were flights if you don't mind?

I flew out with Singapore airlines, it was £660 return from Phuket with a change in Singapore. All the flights were excellent but the return flight home today was full but they still found me a seat with extra leg room.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for decent rooms at £10 (500B) per night in Phuket, it's quite an expensive place in comparison to many other places in Thailand

At least book the first night or so to take the stress away.

I stayed at the Aloha Villa for £10 a night, it was an ok hotel but for the price I couldnt really complain.
