£500 hardtail

Just helping a mate look for a bike for about 500 quid. What's the view on this for 509 quid, looks good value to me, hear good things about Canyon

Canyon make very good bikes and with excellent spec for the money. I have the Nerve XC and it has been great over the past year

Pretty sure thay use these as hire bikes up at Glentress so must be pretty decent and certainly tough.

I had the same decision a few weeks ago and picked up a Specalized Hardrock sport disc for 425 for cycling round Swinley and seems to do the job.

I have a 2011 hardrock, the spec looks the same as the new one. Its a decent enough bike but the forks let it down.

That Canyon looks like great value for money though.

Cheers for the tip's looks like if you can cope with the mail order style of Canyon you definatley get that bit more for you money. Found this too just over budget, he's taken a shine to Cube's

it also looks like he has been offered a 2004 Santa Cruz Superlight, i said things have moved on a lot since 04, he's going to try it out and see. Looks like it was a top spec bike in it's time, not sure an 8 year old bike is worth spending 500 quid on though..
