Has anyone had a 997 tip jump out of gear into neutral whilst driving along? mine has done it three times this week, out of the blue the gear display dissapears on the dash and the the revs jump up as it puts itself into neutral, to get it back again i have to slow down push the lever to N then back into D and all systems are go again, any ideas? i'm guessing a software glitch.

I had the odd jump at low speeds when engaging reverse. My car is currently at a main dealer having a new gearbox fitted.. oh how I wish I'd renewed that warranty!

Sorry that you have taken It to an OPC but you can get these boxes back to brand new with all original MB parts for less than half the price they charge - OPC don't do this just replace the entire box.

It really is unlikely it is a software issue with the tip tonic control unit (tcu) - they either work or fail completely. You need to get a tester on it to see what codes are in the dme and tcu.

Ah dammit! Always find these things out when it's too late frown

I'm picking the car up tomorrow with the new box... £4k with the porsche contribution.

Just out of interest, what kind of numbers would I have been looking at to repair/refurb my old box?
