best airport for Venice
Discussion
Marco Polo is the nearest airport and the one where the major airlines fly to, Treviso is some way out and mostly budget airlines fly to here (Ryanair)
This link explains distances and methods for both http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venic...
Edit to add, I have flown to both, neither are difficult to get to Venice from.

We have just returned from Venice.
We flew to Marco Polo airport, dragged the suitcase for three minutes out of the terminal building to the quayside.
Paid 27 euros per person for a 30 day open return Alilaguna public transport boat (Linea blu) which goes from the Airport to San Marco, via the Lido.
Smooth, painless, and quick (about an hour-ish transfer). Can't think why you'd arse about with r,air who dump you in Treviso, it's miles out!
