Hopefully it will be darker, and more 'batman-esque' than the Stallone version. He took his helmet off... His frikkin helmet! Boooo. A Dredd film done right could be utterly butterly. I'm still harboring hopes of a 'Judgement on Gotham' film!
Exactly, the standard knee-jerk reaction of the uncreative suit in Hollywood would be, 'but you can't have the hero not remove his helmet for the whole film.' Of course you can! Just write it right, shoot it right, direct it right and a creative director and writer can work wonders!
Another classic example of taking a world famous character and then immediately doing away with the one iconic image he is renown for!

Thought the story was Stallone didn't want to be in it unless he was allowed to take the helmet off?Of course you can! Just write it right, shoot it right, direct it right and a creative director and writer can work wonders!

Hope this is as good as it could be.
JD did have one redeeming feature: Diane Lane.

I think KU is a decent choice personally. Hes 40, so a good age for the role IMO, hes not a muscleman but is a decent size and when youre only going to see his chin I dont think him being pretty is much of a problem TBH.
R rated so not a Hollywood comedy, at least.

If anything his helmet looks too big, or he doesn't fill it properly. Looks a little odd either way.

Urgh, that uniform looks terrible. Looks more like body armour than a suit with pads. I know that makes sense from a rational point of view, but not canon.Photos here

I'm actually looking forward to this, I liked the 95 film, well bits of it, the story was good, mega city looked amazing, the costume was good and the lawmaster was cool, and the ABC robot!!!,
However Stallone wasn't the best and the helmet coming off was unforgivable, I feel this is a more down to earth grimy version akin to the original 70's and 80's pulp novels, which I am reading in the collected versions ATM.
Bring on September.

Besides, Dredd wasn't particularly musclebound anyway. Ezquerra (*the* chin on that man
) and Bisley had him toned but not over the top. Some other artists had him as downright wirey.
I always thought Rutger Hauer was a good physical match for Dredd. Some of those old stories he looks like a spindle spider.
This guy has the jaw, easy.
