Time for an Upgrade - MTB

Hi All

Well I currently have a Giant XTC4 which has had a lot of use but still in perfect condition. However I want to get something newer, don't mind it being second hand (suggestions for used bikes websites?). Preferably carbon fibre to keep it lightweight but what else should I look out for?

What sort of budget are you looking at?

Where do you ride mostly?, to be honest, i wouldnt dismiss alloy, there isnt too much in it really.
