996 Maxspeed Exhaust Muffler Bypass Pipes
Discussion
I am looking at purchasing some Maxspeed Exhaust Muffler Bypass Pipes along with a new K&N 57i induction kit for my 1998 911 Carrera 2. What I would like to know is what kind of performance benefits I would gain and would this increase in power affect the overall drive of the car for the good or bad. Has anybody currently got these pipes fitted and what do they sound like from inside the cabin and are they overly loud?
I have a set on my car (without any uprated air-filter) though the car is only a weekend toy & very rarely does SWMBO come in the car with me & when she does, it isn't for a long journey.
The pipes do lose some low down torque though whatever you see on Youtube doesn't do the noise justice...the pipes give a proper growl when you start up, enough to raise the curiousity of fellow petrolheads. When you put the car underload they are noticeably more noisy in the cabin, but not as loud apparently as outside & following it!- the mufflers can also 'pop' on the over-run.
If you PM me,I will happily demonstrate down the phone what sort of noise they make though if you have neighbours & insist on getting up early to drive your car I hope they are fellow PHers!

Thanks for the info. My previous car was a TVR Tuscan with Carbon Cans so the neighbours are accustomed to a little noise on a morning and I never had any complaints so the extra noise shouldnt be an issue. It seems like these are exactly what im after after losing the nice growl and pops and bangs of my old Tuscan these seem to fit the bill just perfect.
I was thinking about it but have less understanding neighbours
Therefore I won't be bidding on this:
