Hi.

I need to replace my front discs and pads for my Cayman S 2006.

Euro car parts shows two "types" of pads, "pin or horseshoe" wear sensors. Can anyone tell me which one mine has?

Search function doesn't seem to be working at the moment.

Thanks in advance

Ed

...or just replace the brake warning wires while you're doing everything else.

If the wires have triggered the brake pad warning then you need to replace them anyway.

Bear in mind that the fitting kit (in particular the spring steel clip at the top of the caliper) is different between the two types of pads. If you're getting a new fitting kit at the same time as the pads then no problems there. If you're re-using the fitting kit then you'll need to stick with the same type of pad. If you look at the photos of the Pagid pads on the Euro Car Part website you'll see the difference in the shape of the pads around the retaining pin.

If the spring clamp at the top of the caliper goes almost all the way across the top of the pads, you've got the earlier pin-type sensors and pads. If it's shorter, and only covers about half the tops of the pads, you've got the later horseshoe sensors and pads. I've got some photos somewhere of the difference, but not to hand I'm afraid.

Thanks for the quick response.

DJB321 I'm not in a rush to order the parts, so if you can post up a couple of pictures to show the difference it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

I'll have a look for some, but in the meantime, these are the longer spring clips used for the old pin-type pads:

As you can see here

http://www.skumlern.dk/S2forum/Brake/IMG_1712.JPG

they go almost all the way across the pads

These are the shorter newer type:

Although they look similar, they're much shorter:

I'll see if I kept the photos I took when I changed my pads.
