I owe Hitachi Capital £348 which needs to be paid by 11/07/12 before they start to debit me £16/month at a ridiculous interest rate. Obviously I plan to pay this off before the date so I've just paid £174 to them using my debit card through their site with the plan to pay the rest off next week when I get paid.

Problem is, the account is still showing the full balance due! I can't phone them as they aren't open today so I need to wait, but I just wondered if anyone had experience with this or similar in the past? And also, if I just left it as half paid now, would they also debit just £8/month if I don't pay it off in time?

Thanks smile

I would imagine it'll probably show in a couple of days, once the credit has been applied and the banking system is all back to work smile

Just make sure you pay it off in full before the end of the interest free term as you will get stung by a massive cancelation fee. Had a friend who got caught out on this. When I had my eyes lasered it was done through them and I had no problems. Like most of these companies if you pay it off in time then there isn't a problem it's only when it goes onto there ridiculous interest rates problems start to arise

Yup.

It's how they make their money.

The missed payment fees etc are eye watering.

Very good if you're a business needing consumer finance.

I had a couple of 'interest free' things with them which I paid off early, the other day. I just called them and paid with debit card. A day laterc cancelled the direct debits & then got a text asking why.. I called again & they confirmed the accounts were closed & texts are automated. Just give them a call, seem very good..
