Have seen an interesting 997 Turbo but it's without sports seats or Chrono pack. The seats don't concern me too much but not sure if the lack of Chrono pack will lose a bit of the Turbo feeling and impact re-sale.

The dealer mentioned that the Chrono pack does not change the suspension. Is it really just throttle response and additional over-boost?

Thanks

On a tiptronic it's a must have. On a manual would be ok without if priced accordingly.

It's a must really! Most important package to have - I only drive in Sport mode.

I would wait for one with SC, most seem to have it.

It certainly does change the suspension.

Nope - Sport mode will put PASM into sport mode. But you can turn this off. Button next to sport.

Therefore sport engages pasm, sport does not in itself change the suspension

I use Sport pretty much all the time and only looked at cars with it. Yes it can be retro-fitted but you don't get the wart on the dash.

Wouldnt it be cheaper to just remap the car?. Then it would be like having the sports chrono on all the time.

If it were me, I'd forget resale and focus on my wants as I'm the one paying for it and driving it. If I wanted it I'd buy one with it. If I wasn't bothered, I'd buy the right car at the right price. Good luck!

The only time you will ever use sport chrono, is to figure out how to work it, the chrono + has the overboost facility that comes with it, unlikey you will use this much either.., it's a clock that clutters up the dash, looks like an after thought, and you have to clean around it..

Timed runs out to the shops or going to see your mates are pretty irrelavant really, and the turbo isn't much of a track car .. biggrin

The first thing I do after starting is press the Sport button followed by the PASM one putting the dampers back to 'normal'. I rarely drive without the overboost facility, why not have full power all of the time?

I have a 997.1 TT with Chrono Pack.

IMO I would have preferred to retro-fit the Chrono Pack as I would get all the Chrono performance functionality without the silly timer on the dashboard.

Even if I tracked the car (and I don't) I can't imagine that the timer is particularly accurate / useful? Happy to be corrected on that.

If the functionality can be had by retro-fitting, I wouldn't be put off.

So every time you apply the throttle you need 100% + 30nm more torque..?
I bet if you actually measured how many times you use wide open throttle in a turbo you would only need your thumbs / week / month .. wink

I had the chrono plus on my 7GT3, and you can argue that it makes more sense here on the track, but I never used it, only once to figure out how it worked..! on a turbo, road car, a lap timer..? really..? pointless..!

Yes, and I use WOT at least 10+ times everytime I use the car. I've used the lap timer once, but the overboost facility thousands of times.
